    Sucuri's file scan runs from a PHP file in your web root. Alertica runs on our side and logs in over SFTP, so an attacker who gets into your files finds nothing of ours to remove.

Watching your store in three steps

  1. Connect the store

    Add the store's server with an SFTP, FTPS or FTP login. Alertica only lists files, so a read-only login is enough and nothing gets uploaded.

  2. Pick what to watch

    Turn on the ready-made checks for your platform, or point a rule at a folder: config changes, scripts in media folders, a backup that never arrived.

  • Does Alertica remove malware?

    No. Alertica tells you which files were added, changed or deleted, and when, so you know where to look. The cleanup is up to you or your agency. It doesn't block attacks either: it isn't a firewall.

  • Can I run Alertica next to a firewall?

    Yes. Alertica adds nothing to your site and doesn't sit in front of it, so it works next to any firewall or CDN. It only needs a login to the server.

  • Does Alertica check what's inside a file?

    Today it compares each file's name, size and modified time. A content check is coming: it will fingerprint files on your own server over SSH, so it catches an edit that keeps the date and size, and your code never leaves the server.

  • Does Alertica cover PCI DSS for my store?

    It covers requirement 11.5.2, the files on your server: it alerts you when critical files are changed, added or deleted, and compares them at least once a week, daily on Pro. It compares file details, not contents, until the content check ships. It doesn't cover 11.6.1, which watches the scripts on your payment page as the shopper's browser receives them. That needs a tool that watches the payment page itself.

  • Is it safe to give Alertica access to our servers?

    Yes. Alertica is agentless and read-only: it lists files and never opens, changes or deletes them, so a read-only login is all it needs. The logins you give it are encrypted with AES-256, and every Alertica account uses two-step sign-in.
